Introducing Winter Trees from Patterns by Jen

I'm so excited to introduce you to the first pattern from Patterns By Jen for 2021!

Winter Trees is the perfect quilt to keep around all winter long.

I love this quilt. When I started sketching it I wanted something simple that brought to mind the quiet in the winter woods.

There's a special silence that takes over the woods when the snow is falling, it's something that can't be described, but I hope this pattern brings it to mind.

It's not just a quilt pattern, it's a bed runner, too.

Add a modern ...

Vintage Double Wedding Ring Bed Runners Finished and Delivered! from Cheeky Cognoscenti

Remember that Double Wedding Ring UFO that I told you about back in August?  A woman had contacted our Charlotte Quilters' Guild looking for someone who could finish an in-progress Double Wedding Ring quilt that she found in her mother's attic. She had a tub of assembled circular wedding ring blocks, a small section of a handful of blocks sewn together, and lots of tiny wedge pieces cut out.  Based on the client's recollection of when her grandmother had grown too ill to sew, as well as rough dating of the fabrics in the blocks and the techniques ...

Christmas bed runner welcomes overnight guests from Carried Away Quilting

My Christmas bed runner is finished! I did a “decorating test-run” to see how it will look in our guest room with a few other holiday items, and I think the end result is warm and inviting. Now I’m torn, though. Do I put the Christmas décor away until after Thanksgiving, or leave it out and watch my husband shake his head and roll his eyes?

Christmas bed runner with Star Crossed Pines from Carried Away Quilting

Just the other day I was walking by our guest room and thought, “I wish I had a Christmas quilt to lay across the foot of the guest bed this winter.” You may be surprised to hear that I don’t have enough Christmas quilts for every bed and sofa in the house, but I don’t! Since Christmas is less than two months away (eeek!), I decided to make a bed runner instead. Here’s my first block.

Do you recognize the block? It’s from my Star Crossed Pines quilt pattern!  Doesn’t it have a cozy, homespun ...

The One About the Vintage Double Wedding Ring UFO from Cheeky Cognoscenti

Good morning and Happy Monday!  I've had a great weekend with my Lars-of-Ours home from college on a four-day weekend.  It has been so nice to hear him playing my piano, talking and laughing with his brother, and just having my family "intact" again.

Meanwhile, I've been working on a project for a client:

Vintage Double Wedding Ring UFO, On My Design Wall
As you may recall, I met with a woman at the end of August who had discovered an in-progress (or "UFO" -- "UnFinished Object") Double Wedding Ring quilt among her late grandmother's possessions.  I thoroughly ...
